Sometimes we can fool ourselves into thinking we have got an open mind when we are really stuck going around in circles.
Einstein’s definition of insanity was ‘doing the same thing over and over expecting different results’…but how many times have you found yourself in that situation? Loads of times right? Me too
I love exploring concepts of mindset and how we can change and I found this great article. Out of that I made this flow chart that shows us a clearer path on how our mind works.

As you can see, we can quite easily fool ourselves into thinking our mind is open when we actually have a closed mindset and lead ourselves straight into the repetitive cycle, over and over again!
How To Open Your Mind More
Look at the diagram again. What we need to do is develop more awareness between where we are and where we want to be, and then try and close the gap between the two.
Let’s take a look at an example:
We can choose to avoid challenges or embrace challenges. Our default may be avoidance, so the first step is to become aware of something we’re avoiding. Maybe it’s as simple as avoiding the challenge of quitting sugar, even though we know we have to. So we need to stop for a moment, recognise it, then make a simple switch and decide that we will embrace the challenge. We know it’s going to be difficult, we may come up against obstacles, fall off the wagon while trying to do it, but we’ll try and try again until we succeed.
That’s right, this time we won’t give up too easily because we know it only leads us in exactly the same direction we’ve been going for…how many years? No this time we work through the obstacles no matter what they are. They might be cravings, they might be emotional issues, they might be stress. Whatever it is we decide to use a success mindset.
I’ve actually got this chart printed and stuck on the bathroom mirror as a reminder! Every time I look at it I ask: ‘Are you keeping an open mind Jedha’.
It’s all too easy to let ourselves follow the same patterns. Our habits are a strong factor in our behaviors but we can change
Open your Mind For Weight Loss Success
Can you see how important it is for us to use this method for achieving greater success with weight loss? Trust me I spent years in a closed mindset, ‘don’t change or improve with time, stagnant, stuck in a repetitive cycle’.
WE CAN CHANGE IT!
One day at a time, one step at a time, and slowly you can close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
