Today I’ve got a story to share that is sure to give you some weight loss motivation. Because I think there is nothing better than hearing someone else’s story to give us a kick up the bum!
Jen found me by default and when I heard of her weight loss success I was truly inspired.
So I connected with Jen and asked her if she would come and share some of her story with us and how she has managed to totally transform her life.
In The Beginning
Like many of us who have had triggers installed from early experiences and spent years yo yo dieting, Jen’s story goes back a long way as well.

Stuck In The Negative Spiral
This led on to Jen trying every diet under the sun, the true yo yo experience began. Gaining weight, losing weight, gaining weight, losing weight from a size 24 to a size 14, from 220 pounds down to 165 and back up to 230 pounds.
And then she realized her darkest hour:

Stop Worrying About What Others Think
This is when the tables had to turn. Jen had to stop worrying about what others think and despite the embarassment, the inhibitions and other obstacles, she had to do what was best for her. Get to the gym and do the best she could, encouraged by her aerobics instructor Mary:

Jen’s Words Of Weight Loss Motivation
So I got to asking Jen a few questions that might help us all to amp up our motivation for weight loss.
What made you decide to lose weight? Did you have a health condition or was there a particular moment that made you ‘wake up’?
I will never forget the a-ha moment when I realized I was “sick and tired of being sick and tired”. I was only in my twenties and felt as if I was trapped in a sad, old lady’s body. I knew at that moment that I had to make a change.
How much weight have you lost?
About 100 pounds (50 kilos).
How many diets did you try before you had success, what were they, and which one helped you get on track?
Oh, wow…was there a diet I didn’t try?? I truly believe that any and every diet will work….IF you can maintain it for the rest of your life. That’s the key.
I started learning healthy eating habits while on Weight Watchers and it’s been an evolutionary process since then. I remember eating 100 calorie packs of cookies and chips and drinking diet soda thinking that it was a healthy snack. It took awhile, but I now realize that there is so much more to nourishing your body than just how many calories you consume and expend.
How did you lose all the weight?
Slowly. Through regular exercise (aerobic classes, spin, CrossFit, weight lifting), good nutrition, and really learning what I was feeding…my body or some other need/emotion. I’ve done a lot of “mind training” over these past few years. Replacing any shame, pain, and anger that I had carried with me and kept me prisoner in my own body for so long with love, understanding and compassion.
What is your diet and lifestyle like now?
I eat as intuitively as possible, not just out of circumstance, really listening to what my body tells me it needs.
I avoid all things processed: pasta, sugar, flour, sauces, cereals. If it spent time in a factory, I really don’t want it on my plate. I do most of my grocery shopping at the farmer’s market and even get my bread from a local baker who uses wholesome ingredients. If I cannot recognize the ingredients in a food, I will not eat it.
I believe exercise is also key to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. I continue to practice a balance of strength training, moderate-vigorous cardio, and yoga/pilates to keep me feeling strong and full of energy.
Could you share your best weight loss motivation tips to help others do what you have done?
Take a good hard look at yourself and your life. You got yourself where you are today by all of your past behaviors and decisions. The decisions and actions you take today will determine where you end up in the future.

AN AMAZING TRANSFORMATION!
I truly thank Jen for sharing her story with us, it takes great courage to put yourself out in the open. But there is something very common about Jen’s story, trust me I hear a lot of people’s stories and although they are slightly different, there are a lot of similarities as well.
There are some wonderful words of wisdom in Jen’s story, so read it and read it again and use it as amunition to achieve the next level of success for yourself.
Thanks again Jen, YOU ARE AWESOME

Fabulous motivation. I’m down 25-30 (depending) and have about 70 to go. I’ve had my ah-ha moment and despite serious health issues, I’m still working out…and eating clean.
These stories really are inspiring, right?! Congrats on your weight loss Sue, that is a great achievement and your already 1/4 of the way there. Just keep on going and never look back, it’s always a work in progress, or should I say we are
