Healthy Detox Plan

Juice fasting, water fasting, lemon drink detox, you’ve probably heard of all of these methods before but are any of these really a healthy detox plan?

In my opinion, the truth is that for most people the answer is NO.

If you endeavor to do a detox you want to increase your energy and metabolism so that you feel great, right?

Well let me tell you that juice fasting can slow down your metabolism and it is not good for blood sugar balance or regulating hormones. Unfortunately juicing usually increases the sugar and carb content of the item being juiced, and also strips fiber and nutrients.

It’s best to eat food to enhance proper digestion, assimilation, and elimination because it promotes enzymes, and hormones starting with the mouth and saliva.

Fasting can also be detrimental to the liver because when it doesn’t get enough nutrients, particularly protein, the many metabolic processes that it is involved in can sloooow right down and impair your ability to detox effectively. In the long run this makes you feel worse not better.Healthy Detox Diet

The concept of fasting as a detox method is a myth

It’s funny because the concept that you have to fast or starve in order to detox is a big myth!

It’s true that we do need to help get the liver functioning better because the liver is largely responsible for cleaning up the body and detoxifying the blood.

But a gentle natural approach is the best way to go to cleanse your system, and the gentle natural approach I use is one that everyone can participate in.

You also need to be able to stick to a detox plan if you’re going to do it, otherwise it’s pointless, right?

Well I don’t know about you but I love to eat food and going without it is VERY hard. So why do it when you don’t have to!

Your Body Needs Nutrients to Detox Effectively

7 Day Detox Diet Ebook copyJuicing and fasting doesn’t work well for detoxing because your body requires nutrients to function and detox effectively.

It’s also commonly thought that you shouldn’t eat meat and proteins while detoxing but this is absolutely NOT true!

You MUST eat protein to detox effectively!

The liver binds toxins to certain amino acids (derived from protein) for removal via bile or urine. You also need protein to maintain lean muscle mass because you don’t want to start eating away at your own muscle tissue. So there are many reasons why including good quality food in a healthy detox plan is VERY important.

In my 7 day detox there is no starvation or deprivation. You can still eat food.

Yes, that’s right, lots of tasty delicious food!!
