I have quite a lot of email subscribers and followers that are in the age range of 60-70 and recently someone asked if weight loss in older people is possible?
My answer to that question is a BIG HUGE YES!!
Absolutely it’s possible.
I’ve had plenty of clients lose substantial amounts of weight and this includes people who have worked with me one on one, and people who have taken my online weight loss program.
The largest amount of weight loss I’ve seen in a 65 year old woman is 11.4 kg (25 lbs) in 6 weeks. This is a fantastic result and was achieved by a woman who took my online weight loss program and was dedicated to becoming healthier, so yes it is possible.
Another thing that people often say is that ‘I can’t seem to lose more than 5 kg (10 lbs) but again it is possible.
What I find is that there are always areas you might not have looked at that are holding you back. Or you just might not have the right combinations that work for your body to lose weight.
Or it might be that you are eating a little too much. Or it could also be that you’re in denial and your diet needs a big overhaul.
Taking the first steps to get those pounds off…
Either way a great place to start is in keeping a food log.
Now please don’t switch off right now and think this won’t help you.
When I say keep a food log, I know most people won’t because they don’t like writing things down, or they don’t think it will help them, or they are just too lazy to do it.
But here’s the thing, we go about our habits almost every single day repeating the same old things. Often we aren’t even aware of that.
So one thing the food diary does is wake us up. It makes us aware of what is going in your mouth so you can actually take a look at it and see where you might be going wrong.
Are you having one too many cookies for morning tea? Are you skipping breakfast? Are you eating too many snack foods at night?
These are the types of things we notice when we write things down so it’s a great place to start.
Try it, because it really works.
Need suggestions on what to change and how to do it?
If you just don’t know where to start, come and join us inside the Good Food Eating Virtual Nutrition School, where we can help you work through the process from start to finish.
We’ll even take a look at your personal food diary together and make suggestions on what to change and how to do it.
Seriously, don’t give up on yourself because weight loss is possible in older people.
In fact, improving your health is possible even at 80+ years of age. There are plenty of studies that show you can still make amazing improvements no matter how old you are
So I hope this will inspire you to do something different today
