If this is your first time visiting we have a real live case study here on the blog following Yvonne over a 6-8 week period. We’ve been working on making diet and lifestyle changes to reduce her blood glucose, a1c and other health indicators.
You can click here to read more about her starting point.
Today is an update of Yvonne’s progress and so far she is doing really great!!
Lowering Blood Sugar Levels
Yvonne’s blood sugar levels are already lowering.
From the report of her first 11 days she had a top blood sugar (BS) of 220 (12.2mmol/l) and a bottom of 100 (5.6). Here’s her first chart.

After the following 9 days her top level was 205 (11.3mmol/l) and the lowest 76 (4.3). Here is her second chart.

As you can see the levels still do go up and down but she is getting periods where the balance in becoming more apparent. This is especially the case toward the end of this 9 day period.
So I think we are definitely getting somewhere.
Of course we won’t know for sure until she goes back to the doctor and has her health checks but we will be reporting all the results as we go along.
What 3 Things Has Yvonne Changed?
I have been very impressed by Yvonne’s efforts. She is 67 years old and it’s never too late to change!!
She is trying new things, new recipes, new personal experiments, and that’s just a wonderful thing.
So what 3 things has she changed so far:
1. Decreased Processed Food
Yvonne has been working really hard to reduce her intake of processed foods and she is doing very well. She is keeping a food diary and I am monitoring her food intake and suggesting the changes she can make. All changes we make take time. There’s still room for improvement but she is well on her way to much better eating.
2. Increased Fibre
Like many people Yvonne was not eating many fresh veggies and what that means is that she wasn’t getting any fibre. We need fibre, it has positive beneficial effects on our health in many ways and is great for helping diabetes too. So she has started including more veggies on a daily basis.
3. Committment
Change is never easy because we are creatures of habit. We get stuck in our ruts and routines and so what we need the most is the committment to change. Yvonne is committed to improving her condition through diet and lifestyle so that she can avoid insulin and stay healthier for longer.
These are 3 changes that you can also make in your life right now.
