Starting A Diet? Where Do I Begin

Are you thinking about starting a diet? If so, where is the best place to begin?

Here are 2 great options to consider:

1. Replace, reduce, reflect

2. Do some kind of sugar detox to kick start your metabolism and fat burning

Replace, reduce, reflect

If you don’t want to take on too much too fast, start from where you are.

Replace as many items as you can with healthy real foods.

Reduce the things you can’t let go of just yet, but start working on a way to get them out of your life.

Reflect constantly and ask yourself whether the food you are eating is good food. Is it good for your health? Does it nurture you? Does it provide nutrients for your body? If the answer is no, then replace it with something better.

This is a simple way to start bringing more awareness around the food you are eating and your habits. It’s also a gentle way because it allows you to work at your own pace. Of course you have to make sure you keep moving forward or you’ll quickly fall into bad habits again. But I think this system works well to aid the transition to any diet.

So say for example you like to eat a burger on Thursday nights. Well instead of eating a burger and fries from the shop. Make your own delicious burger and serve it between some lettuce leaves instead of on a bun. And you could make a small serving of some sweet potato fries to go with it. It works well when you can replace the foods you love with healthy foods that give you the same satisfaction.

A Sugar Detox To Kick Start Your Metabolism

When I got started I found that doing some kind of sugar detox program was a great place to start and I think it helps most people no matter what diet it is you’re thinking about doing.

Why?

Well most of us eat way too much sugar and way too many carbohydrates, which also turn to sugar once they hit your bloodstream. And it’s these foods that form a major issue when it comes to losing weight. In order to burn fat and get the metabolism moving we need to normalize our blood sugar levels and stop them going up and down, up and down, on the sugar high and low roller coaster.

So starting with a sugar detox is a great way to kick start the whole process. Of course that doesn’t mean you have to go cold turkey and cut out absolutely everything. Depending on your current diet, you need to work from where you are. For you that might mean cutting out the junk food and candy first before tackling anything more.

If I ever ‘fall off the wagon’, I often use a sugar detox as a way to get back on track as well.

I recommend the 21 day sugar detox program. It has a 3 tiered program and loads of information to help, including heaps of yummy recipes.

Anyway I hope that gives you a few ideas on where to get starting a diet. For most of us racing head first into things only sets us up for failure. Choosing something more sustainable is often good at first.
