Happiness IS a Choice!


Today is not a post about food or nutrition. Today I’d like to share some positivity with you…A BIG SMILE!!!

I’d like to share a moment of happiness with you, so let me give you A BIG BEAR HUG, a big squeeze and share some happiness with you!

Happiness is a choice

Choosing happiness is a very powerful principle that can help you achieve more success.

To simply be HAPPY.

Have you ever noticed that if you are in a bad mood that it starts to affect everyone around you?

That it seems to slow you down during the day?

That it makes everything else go awry?

Have you ever noticed this?

Sometimes it seems a difficult task to be happy. We have stressors all arouns us in our lives, we have outside forces that cause us strain and pain. And in general our default mood, the mood we’ve been ‘taught’ to experience is not a positive one. But essentially we can still choose to be happy!

I’m a big believer in the power of mindset. We have the ability to control our mood and how we react and respond to life. Okay, some days we may forget to take control of our mood. We might have a bad nights sleep and simply wake up a big old grump. But just remember we can still choose. Don’t take it out on yourself and the world around you. It will not make you feel better anyway.

Choose Happiness

Instead, take a breath, and think happy thoughts. Change your mood to a happy one. Let a smile fill your face. Think of nice and wonderful things. Let happiness fill your heart and soul.

Happiness is a choice that you make. It is not something that you have to wait for, to occur. You choose to be happy or you choose to be stressed and miserable. It’s a choice.

Sure, stress at work will still happen. Relationship difficulties may happen. Financial troubles may test us. All sorts of things will happen.

But take a breath and choose to be happy. You hold a powerful key in the palm of your hand. This key is happiness. And it helps to influence the success we achieve with our health goals and other things in our lives.

Work in Your Circle Of Influence

Another more practical way to look at this is a concept I love by author Stephen Covey to work in your circle of influence.

his is one of my favourite ones because I think it’s such a powerful concept.

Imagine 2 circles, one inside the other (like the picture below). The inside circle is your circle of influence and the outer circle, the one surrounding it is your circle of concern.

Circle-of-Influence

In our lives we have a whole range of concerns and worries – our health, our kids, problems at work, debt and finances, etc. We tend to worry a lot about the things in our circle of concern a little too much, in fact for many of us it steals our whole energy and focus. So our circle of concern can be huge and the circle of influence just a small dot in the centre.

But proactive people focus all their energy and efforts in the circle of influence because positive energy grows the circle of influence and decreases the circle of concern. The key is to stop worrying, worrying, letting emotions, blame, attitudes, and reactive language keep you in the circle of concern. Think about what you CAN change, what you can influence right now, focus on positive language and positive action in any areas of your life that you can.

This shift naturally brings about more happiness.

A simple switch in attitude suddenly takes your life to a whole new altitude.

Like any new strategy we try to implement, it takes practice in choosing happiness to make it easier and easier to do.

So try it, because it really does work.
