In the last episode of the Good Food Eating Podcast we talked about a client of mine Lisa and her case study around adrenal fatigue.
In todays episode I go over adrenal fatigue treatment and what we did to help her get her life back on track and there’s lots of tips and tricks you can apply as well.
When she first came to see me she had a whole range of symptoms including:
- chronic fatigue
- insomina
- depression
- digestive problems
- memory and cognition issues
- sensitivity to cold
- food cravings and yet a lack of appetite
- and a few other things too
We used 3 key treatment strategies.
1. Diet
2. Lifestyle changes
3. Simple supplementation
I gave Lisa a plan to follow but it was still up to her to follow it. Thankfully she did, wanting to get better and within a few months she went from a ghost like person who was dragging herself around to a person with colour in her skin, light back in her eyes, and energy. Perhaps not energy to burn…yet. But boy what a difference.
I really wish I had of taken pictures because it really was an astounding change.
I hope you enjoy the episode and find it useful. It’s one of my favourite topics to talk about.

Lab Testing That You Can Do At Home
I also talked about lab testing on this podcast so here’s some info about it and a place you can order a home test.
One of the most accurate ways to test cortisol levels is with a saliva test that is taken over different time periods throughout the day. Cortisol is what we want to be measuring because generally the effects of adrenal fatigue and dysfunction occur due to cortisol levels that are all out of whack. Following on from this, the rest of our hormones go awry in a chain of follow up events.
When you measure your salivary hormones it shows the tissue concentration of the hormones in your body. The great thing about measuring saliva in this way is that it shows the active component of the hormone in your body, whereas a blood test would show total hormone levels but not necessarily the active component.
Canary Club has a home test you can purchase for $119 that gives you full instructions on when to take your saliva over a 24 hour period. You can check out all the details of the test over here.
See you for next weeks podcast.
Have a great week

Hi Jedha,
Great podcast!
I am enrolling in a program to begin this fall to become a Nutrition Therapy Practitioner and I am already a Registered Nurse.
I believe that so many people are really struggling with adrenal fatigue leading to all sorts of aliments and are unable to get the help they need from their physicians. This is exactly the information people need to have so that they can rebuild and repair their bodies from the effects of these modern day stressors.
Thanks again for this great podcast!

Hi Laureen, thanks for stopping by to leave a comment and so glad you enjoyed the podcast
Sooo many people have problems with adrenal fatigue and you’re right, it’s largely going unnoticed, which is sad and unfortunate for the people who suffer! You will make a great nutritional therapy practitioner and will thoroughly enjoy it too I’m sure.
Hello Jedha,
I listened to your first and second podcasts on Adrenal fatigue with a lot of interests. I have Addison disease since 2005 and I take medication such as Cortef 25 mg and Florinef half of a .05 mg every day. I split my medication of Cortef three times a day, 10 mg at 8am and 12pm and .5mg at 4pm. It works for me that way. I had 2 major crisis recently (Sept. 2013 and April 2015) with extreme fatigue and depression. I am doing very well now but it took me 4 to 6 months in both cases to get back on my feet. I took good note of your suggestions on healthy eating, exercices and sleeping habits. I pretty much do all of this and since my 2 recent crisis, I now have a very stable life which helps a lot.
I was wondering if you can send me more informations on this subject.
Thank you in advance.!
I love all of your podcasts that I listened so far and I can’t wait to listen to the others
