Candida and Weight Loss

candida-diet-books-in-PostI’ve had a couple of questions come in regarding candida and weight loss, so that’s what this post is all about.

These are the questions we’ll be answering:

  • How does candida prevent weight loss?
  • I’ve heard you can have dramatic weight loss after treating candida, is this true?
  • And just general stuff around candida and weight loss

How does candida prevent weight loss?

Candida can prevent weight loss by 3 different mechanisms.

1. Leaky gut and inflammation

2. Elimination and detoxification pathways are ineffective

3. Hormones that drive fat storage

So let’s look into these a bit more.

1. Leaky gut and inflammation

If you haven’t read about all about the candida albican fungus and how it can affect your gut, you can do that here. The short rundown is that candida is like a mold that can grow ‘roots’ through the small intestine. This creates a leaky gut where toxins that should be eliminated from the body actually re-enter the blood stream. This can lead to low grade inflammation throughout your system and lights a smoldering fire that your immune system is constantly trying to put out.

It is well established in medical studies that increased inflammation leads to many chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, dementia, depression, heart disease and a whole range of other things. This is definitely one of the key factors preventing your weight loss.

2. Elimination and detoxification pathways are ineffective

We need effective digestion, which we’ve already established this does not function efficiently with candida. We also need effective elimination through healthy bowels and chances are this may not be functioning too well either. Lastly you need effective detoxification pathways, this means your liver has to be functioning efficiently. Most people with candida have a sluggish liver and the fact that you may have toxins leaking back through your blood stream really doesn’t help. Without effective elimination and detoxification you will not lose weight and can even gain it.

3. Hormones that drive fat storage

The key fat storage hormone is insulin, there are also other sneaky hormones that drive fat storage too. It’s these hormones that are usually way out of balance preventing any weight loss and driving weight gain. With the above two things already metnioned this issue only gets worse and you find that you just can’t lose any weight and struggle to gain any ground at all.

Does this sound like you?

candida and weight loss

I’ve heard you can have dramatic weight loss after treating candida, is this true?

Yes, it is true.

You can lose dramatic weight after treating candida, or while you are treating candida.

Why?

Because you cut out what’s feeding the candida, you fix your leaky gut, you reduce inflammation, you get all the pathways of elimination and detoxification functioning, and your hormones balance out. This all happens by following a clean candida diet and following the 4 stages of natural candida treatment.

When your body is functioning like it should, there is no reason for your body to hold onto weight. Excess weight is just the body saying that something isn’t quite right. Get it right, and the rest usually takes care of itself.

Candida and weight loss

Whether you have candida or not, the candida diet is an excellent diet to help clean things up and lose weight.

It requires you to follow it strictly and the longer you do it the easier you will see the weight drop off. I’ve seen weight loss occur with myself twice when I’ve had candida and I’ve seen dramtic weight loss with others too.

One of the biggest drivers of weight gain and fat storage is sugar, in all its forms, natural or not. The candida diet cuts out ALL forms of sugar and refined carbohydrates and that’s a big part of the solution.

Problem is, most people can’t or won’t stick to it strictly, but if you do you will not only heal but you will also lose weight too.

So I hope that helps answer a few questions and if you have more please feel free to ask them in the comments below.

Wishing you the best in health
