Why do we need to use natural sugar substitutes?
Everywhere we go today we are surrounded by crap filled with white table sugar. White sugar is a highly processed form of sugar that has been stripped of all of its nutritional value. When you eat white sugar you are eating empty calories, 100% empty. And there is research out there about how sugar affects our health. Unfortunately though your fat cells don’t find sugar empty at all because your body converts any excess sugar into fat!
Natural sugar substitutes are a better option as far as nutrition goes, and throughout this series we will go over the pros and cons and talk about the nutrient value too. I’d love to hear about your experience and ways you use them as we go.
I think one of the most important things we need to know and remember is that our body does not need any excess sugar at all, and that means natural sugars too. We can actually live perfectly fine without any additional sugar but…we do love it!
Us humans have an innate loving of all things sweet and chances are that even if we do reduce it quite a bit, we won’t live 100% without it and so choosing natural alternatives is a much better for our health in the long term.
