As for adrenal fatigue, the term really covers a spectrum of issues associated with hormone imbalance. This imbalance occurs in stages and is a gradual decline and dysregulation of hormonal function – from high cortisol through to low cortisol – that results in various physical symptoms. I know lots of people use the term differently, so it can get confusing.

So why would anyone want to take a supplement such as phosphatidyl serine, which this article says lowers cortisol?

The article goes on to mention other foods, oils, supplements, vitamins, etc, that will help lower cortisol, but a person with adrenal fatigue would in fact seek to avoid anything that lowers cortisol and instead be looking for natural ways to increase cortisol, such as licorice root.
